For sale is a benchtop metal planer manufactured most likely by (or for) Tom Senior in England. If you know anything about these, you know how rare it is. The planer is in great shape. The table slides freely and the ratchet mechanism works as it should. There are a couple of stray holes drilled in the table top (see picture) but they are small. One of the uprights has a dowel pin missing (easily manufactured and replaced). None of this would affect the functionality though. I doubt this machine was every used, or at least not much. Paint is in good condition. The machine is probably close to 100 years old. The unit weights probably about 150 pounds. I moved it into my apartment by myself by removing the table and a couple other components. My guess is after removing a few things it goes down to a more manageable 75 lbs. Tony’s site (search’tony griffith lathes uk’) has a great writeup with pictures on a not as good condition planer. After you are on his site, on the right is a section for’Planing Machines’ and there is a link to’Senior (and Firth) Planers’. These are rare and one this small very rarely comes up for sale. The table is 24″ end to end, the total height to top of vertical screw is 26″. Please let me know if you have any questions.
